Student Portfolio Websites

Students will create an E-Portfolio to showcase their artwork created throughout the semester.

taking photographs

A quality photograph of your artwork will:

  1. Have even lighting using a dual light setup, such as the one pictured to the left. Set up the two stand lights so that there is one on the left, and one of the right, with your artwork on the wall in between the lights. Having the lights directed from the left and right of the artwork creates lighting that will move evenly across the artwork.

  2. Be neatly cropped in Photoshop or other photo editing software so that no background surface is visible around the edges of the artwork.

  3. Be in focus and taken on a high quality digital camera. Despite smart phones having decent cameras, they are not really sufficient for the quality of photograph you need for a portfolio.

Good

  1. Clear, focused photograph.

  2. Clean, cropped borders.

  3. Even, consistent lighting.

bad

  1. Unfocused photograph

  2. Uneven borders, background visible.

  3. Uneven lighting.
