My name is Melanie Soule, and I could not be more excited to join the team at Barton Pond Elementary School! I am most recently coming from Leesville Road Elementary School, but prior to being in Wake County, I taught for 10 years in Durham County and several years in Ohio. This will be my 6th year teaching 5th grade math. 

I graduated from the University of Dayton in Ohio. I have dual certifications in Elementary Education and Special Education, as well as my master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction.  I spent 11 years working with a non-profit sector and had the opportunity to live in some pretty amazing places. My heart never truly left teaching, however, and I eventually found my way back.  I love learning more about my profession and continue to adapt my instruction to the changing needs of the students.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy playing with my 2 labradors Myla and Major, spending time in the mountains with my husband, Jeremy, and family, crafting, reading, and jigsaw puzzles.
