The band is comprised of students 9-12 who perform various musical literature works such as standard band works, rock pieces, movies and many other styles of music.

The Orchestra is comprised of students 9-12 who perform various musical literature works such as standard string orchestra literature, folk songs, rock and movie pieces.

(Co-Curricular) Marching Band is open to all students at South Garner who play an instrument. Work is completed during a summer camp and also during various Class and after school activities throughout the day. This ensures that every student gets to participate regardless of busing issues or other transportation issues. 

Color Guard is a co-curricular group that meets two days a week after school throughout marching season as well as during the school day.  Members of the Color Guard can also do Winter Guard which is an activity set up just for them from November through March. 

The group plays jazz standards, pop tunes, ballads and other selections that fit the limited size of this group. Jazz instrumentation is usually 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano, guitar, bass and drums.  They perform wherever there is an audience!
