Changes to Policy Regarding Chromebook Chargers
WCPSS is changing the policy for replacing Chromebook chargers. Starting Dec. 13, if a student has lost their Chromebook charger, they may ask for a replacement from the school's media center.
Please note that replacement chargers will not be sent with replacement Chromebooks, so students should keep their charger. The county also advises that students label their chargers with their names. Another good practice is for the student to charge the Chromebook at home nightly and leave the charger at home.

For replacement chargers, the county recommends purchasing a 45W USB-C Lenovo branded charger from Lenovo. Here is the link. For school purchases, this is the sample PO. It is the only charger that is approved for use with a Chromebook. Be advised that some less expensive chargers may affect performance or device health and may void the warranty.
Classrooms to Receive One Student Day-Use Chromebook
Beginning Dec. 12, our Media Specialists (Ms. Ruthven) will be distributing one Chromebook & charger per classroom to have available for a student to use for your class if they forget their device. These are "Day Use Only" and cannot go home with a student, so please be sure the device is returned to you at the end of the class period. Having the device available for day use will ensure they are charged and logged into periodically so that they won't be dropped from the network and therefore ready if needed as back-ups for testing. There will still be extra Chromebooks for daily check-out in the Media Center if you have multiple students who need them. New Students Must Request a Chromebook
Newly enrolled students must now request a Chromebook using the student help desk link. Tech Services will no longer automatically send Chromebooks to students when they enroll like they did at the beginning of the school year.
