How many schools should I apply to?

You can apply to however many you would like, but we usually recommend 4 or 5. One school that you definitely think you can get into, 2 schools you think you will mostly likely get into, and then one or two reach schools. It is up to you though!

How can I find out my class rank?

Please request your class rank here and then your counselor will email it to your WCPSS email address.

How does Athens do class rank?

We do class rank on a weighted 4 point scale, by giving an exact rank to each student.

How do I send my transcript to a college?

Please refer to the transcript page on this website. If you are using Common App or Coalition, your counselor will upload your transcript. If you are not using Common App or Coalition then you will need to send your own transcript via CFNC or Scriborder. CFNC should be used for any in-state schools and Scriborder should be used for out-of-state schools.

How does the school I decide to go to receive my final transcript?

Students are responsible for sending their final transcript to the school they will be attending. Counselors do not send final transcripts (even if you applied through Common App). More information can be found on he final transcript page.

What information is on a transcript?

Your final grades from each year of high school, including any high school classes you took in middle school, class rank, weighted and unweighted GPA. Your SAT/ACT/AP Scores are NOT listed on your transcript.

How do I get an unofficial transcript for a scholarship, athletic coach, etc?

Please use Scriborder to request one and a transcript will be mailed to your house.

How do I get an application fee waiver?

For Common App- You will be asked on the application whether your financial circumstances qualify you for a fee waiver-- you should indicate in response to this question to have your fee waived. Your high school counselor will be asked to verify your eligibility.

You can also fill out this form and then send it to your counselor if you are applying to schools that are not on Common App to request an application fee waiver.

Why should I waive my right to view letters of recommendation?

Waiving your right lets colleges know that you do not intend to read your recommendations, which helps reassure colleges that the letters are candid and truthful. This shows the colleges that you trust your recommender. Some recommenders may decline to write a letter for you if you do not waive your rights.

If an essay is optional should I do it?

We always recommend, YES, write the essay/personal statement even if it is optional. Any supplemental writing gives the admissions counselor a better look into who you are and your experiences. Remember the person reading your application does not know you, so any additional information helps!

If I am planning on playing a sport in college What do i need to do?

Your first step would be to create an account on the NCAA eligibility website.
