Parents, Teachers, or any other WCPSS staff member may nominate a student for AIG at any point in the school year.
Strong candidates typically meet all or most of the following criteria:
Score in the 95th percentile or higher compared to same-age peers on assessments like CogATs, Iowas, Star Math, and EOGs.
Earn a Level 5 on the EOG in the subject area of consideration
Consistently receive 4s on report cards in the subject area
Demonstrate an ongoing need for enrichment beyond core classroom instruction
The School Based Committee for Gifted Education meets to review all available data for your student. A nomination is not a guaranteed entry into AIG. It is an opportunity for your student's data to be discussed by the SBCGE to see if AIG is a good fit.
Email your teacher to set up a time to discuss your student's data and your interest in the AIG identification process for your student. Then email Ms. Sheehan for more information.
*Not all students who are referred for the AIG identification process need testing. This is determined by the available student data.
*Homeroom teachers must be contacted by the parent/guardian who is nominating. The teacher and the parent will then discuss the student's current data together.
