Episode 2:  Assistive Technology

In this episode, Mrs. Brianna Edgerton, EC Teacher at Meadow Lane Elementary shares advice, insight, and anecdotes as she explains to us the powerful impact assistive technology is making on her students. Something as simple as a button can mean the difference between isolation and communication. This is a powerful and informative episode.

Episode 3:  Blended Learning

This was a really fun and informative episode. We were joined by Iris Ellington, the Virtual Instruction Consult for the NC Rethink Education initiative. Iris has been on the forefront of the movement to bring Blended Learning (incorporating effective, efficient use of technology to support personalized learning along with offline activities) to the State of NC. 

Episode 4:  STEMKAMP

In this episode, we meet Christy White and Andrew Bass, the driving forces behind STEMKAMP, a unique program brought about through a grant provided by DoD STEM, Goshen Education and iBIO and presented as a collaborative effort between Wayne County Public Schools and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

Episode 5:  Adobe

In this episode of EdTech Journeys, we delve into the world of high school career and technical education with two dedicated CTE teachers who specialize in teaching Adobe software. They share insights into PhotoShop, Illustrator, and InDesign courses, discussing the benefits of certifications, engaging projects, and the role of technology in preparing students for future careers.

Episode 6:  Wax Museum

Join me as I chat with Robin Casey, teacher at Carver Elementary, as we delve into the innovative world of elementary STEM education with a special focus on interactive learning. Mrs. Casey shares her experiences and insights from the recent “wax museum” her students created for the Wayne County STEAM Festival in which they brought historical STEAM figures to life. She discusses the challenges and triumphs of teaching young learners, and the importance of hands-on projects. 

Episode 7:  Using Tech to Support Teachers

In this episode, I have the privilege of speaking with Brooke Ash, an Interventionist from Northwest Elementary. Not only does she lead the MTSS process at her school, but she’s also significantly contributed to curriculum development for K-2 in the District, establishing herself as a pivotal figure in educational technology integration in Wayne County Public Schools. She joins the conversation to share her insights on the impact of educational technology on teaching and learning. 

Episode 8:  Project-Based Learning

Mrs. Courtney Howell, Mrs Erin Nelson, and their students join me to talk about their extraordinary experience of creating a life-sized cardboard zoo, integrating science, math, and art. Episode 9: Virtual Author Visit

The students of Eastern Wayne Elementary were recently gifted with a Virtual Meeting with the best-selling author Alan Gratz. He has penned many of our students' favorite books, including The Brooklyn Nine, Prisoner B-3087, Ground Zero, The League of Seven Series, Refugee, and the much-loved Elementary Battle of the Books title, Ban This Book.
