We understand that each individual deserves to be in a productive learning environment with their unique requirements addressed. In many circumstances this is achieved by the classroom teacher who will know the student's best and will be able to cater to their needs. However, in some situations, students may require further assistance in their educational and personal pursuits. In order to ensure that each student can achieve to their full potential, we provide fantastic Learning Support Programs for students who need extra support in developing their academic, social and everyday life skills.
We deliver a range of Life Skills subjects for High School students who benefit from these specifically designed courses. Years 11 and 12 Life Skills courses can be used to meet the requirements for a Record of School Achievement and Higher School Certificate. Students who have completed Life Skills courses have achieved well in post-school settings, such as completing TAFE courses and gaining employment in a range of workplaces. Places in the Life Skills program are very selective and are assessed on a case by case basis, please speak to Mr Roby or Mrs Anderson to begin the process.
Students who have a disability will be supported when necessary to access the subjects of their choice. All reasonable adjustments, such as wheelchair access or access to audio links or travel training, will be made to ensure such access. The Learning Support Unit (LSU), which has considerable expertise in this area, will do a risk assessment and/or negotiate any such adjustments. Parents will be encouraged to seek the advice of an Occupational Therapist, or other specialist/s, if the LSU cannot find a solution to assisting the student in accessing a particular subject.
