Have you always wanted to be able to communicate in another language? This may be your chance!
The NSW School of Languages allows dedicated students the opportunity to learn another language as part of their HSC. They offer the following languages:
Chinese
French
German
Indonesian
Italian
Japanese
Korean
Latin
Modern Greek
Portuguese
Russian
Spanish
Learning another language has many benefits which develop your mind, your life experience and your future prospects.
Studying a language is a very intellectually stimulating activity. It develops your brain, making you a more creative and flexible thinker. As a result, it is believed that language study can reduce your risk of brain disease later in life.
It can improve your literacy skills, not only in the target language, but also in English as you learn about the structure and mechanics behind language.
You can learn about the other cultures in the world, increase your employability, and increase your chance of getting into your desired course at some Australian universities who offer bonus points for Languages students.
For more information about studying a language at NSW School of Languages, please have a read through the documents available on their website: https://nswschoollang.schools.nsw.gov.au/
Note: This is a distance education course, so it is necessary for students to be motivated and to have the ability to learn independently and self-manage their own study schedule. It also incurs an additional fee ($800 per year) that goes directly to the NSW School of Languages.
Places are limited. Therefore, an application needs to be submitted and accepted by NSW School of Languages before you can study.
