As you read through this website please remember:
All students at WCCS start with a balanced ‘general education’. As they move into senior high school, they are encouraged to choose courses that suit their interests and career plans.
Most courses on this website were offered and ran last year. However, if too few students choose a course, it may not be possible to run the course. We endeavour to match changing student interests and needs by offering new courses. These courses may also change the balance of courses offered.
It is most important that students think carefully before making a decision about courses. It may not be possible to change later because, as far as possible, the timetable and class sizes are planned around the choices that students first make. Later changes and new enrolments have to fit in with the timetable and places that are left.
Students may be given their ‘reserve’ courses if a course cannot be offered on a line that is convenient for an individual student. Please choose reserve courses carefully. In the few cases where the School is unable to accommodate particular choices, individual students will be asked to choose again.

Compile any questions and attend the Subject Selection Evening on the 30th June 2025. Head teachers, deputies and executive staff will be available to talk more about courses and answer questions you may have. Parents of students are encouraged to attend.
Students select online, in preference order, the subjects they wish to study. Students will each need to select seven elective subjects. English and Mathematics levels will be allocated by WCCS staff see the Mathematics section for more information. This allows WCCS to arrange subjects into six lines to maximise student pathways. Subject preferences will need to be completed by Wednesday 30th July 2025 (Term 3 Week 1). Once completed, a receipt of completion that is signed by the parent/carer and student is to be returned to the High School Student Office.
The subjects are ordered into six lines, maximising student preferences. If students miss out on any of their initial options, students will be provided with a subject lines sheet to select any missing subject choices. Once subjects are selected from the lines again, a receipt of completion will be signed by the parent/carer and student and returned to the Dean of Students – Year 10 to 12. This step will need to be completed by Wednesday, 6th August 2025 (Term 3 Week 2).
This step is to review student course selections via a family interview. Bookings are available from 8:00 am – 9:00 pm on either Thursday, 28th August 2025 or Tuesday, 2nd September 2025. Bookings open from Term 3, Week one through Miss Boardman (boardmanp@wccs.nsw.edu.au), personal assistant to the Principal.
Note: Not all courses run every year. Courses finally provided depend on student choices and certificate requirements.
When choosing your HSC subjects, there are several things to consider. You should choose subjects that:

Dual accredited vocational courses that will put you ahead in your employment opportunities or TAFE qualifications
Courses that meet the prerequisites for further study.
You should not choose a subject because:
All of your friends are choosing it
You like the teacher you think will be teaching it
You think it will be scaled up.
You must undertake:
At least 12 units of study in Year 11 and at least 10 units in Year 12
At least 2 units of English
