Hi 4th Graders!
This week, you will be watching the Fifth Grade Play with your classes! It's a story of kids finding a way to still perform by going online! Then, pick one of your favorite songs or lessons from this year and perform for your grownups, your stuffed animals, or virtually for someone who'd love to hear your music making skills!
I hope you have a great summer!

Hi 4th Graders!
This week for music you have a fun bingo board to complete. See how many different ways you can be musical. Every time you complete an activity cross it out until you get 4 in a row! Have fun!

Hello 4th graders! Last week, you got to watch the movie "STOMP" and see people making music using some random, everyday objects! Pretty neat! This week, we're continuing on with our bucket drumming! Grab your bucket, sticks (or pencils), and let's have some fun!
Ms. Vanaria
CLICK HERE for an introduction to bucket drumming
CLICK HERE to learn a new song on your bucket drum called "Tango." This song has a rhythm that may be new to you. You will see a dotted quarter note followed by one single eighth note (just the "de" part of the du-de). The first note is held half a beat longer than regular "du". You will hear what it sounds like it in the song!
CLICK HERE to play the Level 2 song. This piece has a "syncopated" rhythm. That means that sometimes the notes begin in between the beats. You would count each measure like this:
"de du de du du"
Think "short long short long long"
B indicates playing with BOTH sticks. Can you play on the correct part of your bucket?
Look to the left to see whether it's played on the rim, top, side, or clicked.
Hi 4th graders,
Last week, you got to play some new rhythms and patterns using your “bucket” drums. Did you know that there is a musical group called STOMP that uses everyday objects to make music? Check out this video of them performing a variety of songs using all kinds of household objects, and other things that are not normally considered instruments. As you watch, think about what other objects from your home you could use to make music!
Hello 4th graders! I hope you had a nice long weekend! This week, you will be exploring different rhythmic patterns using everyday objects that you have at home. Let’s start with a rhythmic warm-up. Find two objects at home that you can use like rhythm sticks to tap some patterns (two pencils, two kitchen spoons, anything!) Just like when using rhythm sticks at school, be sure to tap lightly so that the objects do not break!

Hi Fourth Graders!
Some fourth graders created a “Pizza Composition” last week! Great job! I really enjoyed your recordings and pictures!
Not everyone had a chance to complete that lesson so we would like to give you another week to do it (see Lesson for May 11th below). If you created a “Pizza Composition” last week, then please create the "Ice Cream Sundae Composition" this week.
Create and perform your rhythmic composition and email it to me!

Hi Fourth Graders!
We've been studying composers recently and this week you get to be your own composer! Do you have a favorite food? Well, one of mine is PIZZA! This week your music lesson is to compose your own rhythmic composition using pizza toppings!
Watch my friend, Ms. Pohl (Music Teacher at Happy Hollow) in this Pizza Composition Video, to see how it's done!
Read the Pizza Rhythm Directions
Create and perform your rhythmic composition and email it to me!

Remember how we learned that music was broken up into four main categories?
We already learned about the Baroque period.
This week we will learn about the CLASSICAL period.
Classical music is very balanced, not fancy and the orchestras are bigger!
