Hi 3rd Graders!
This week, you will be watching the Fifth Grade Play with your classes! It's a story of kids finding a way to still perform by going online! Then, pick one of your favorite songs or lessons from this year and perform for your grownups, your stuffed animals, or virtually for someone who'd love to hear your music making skills!
I hope you have a great summer!
Ms. Vanaria
Hi 3rd Graders!
This week for music you have a fun bingo board to complete. See how many different ways you can be musical. Every time you complete an activity, cross it out until you get 4 in a row! Have fun!

Hi 3rd Graders,
Next year you will have many exciting musical opportunities. Did you know in fourth grade you can join band with Ms. Keenan or continue a string instrument with Ms. Tandon? For music class this week visit Ms. Keenan's wonderful music website and learn more about the band instruments by clicking on the examples. There are a lot of really fun options such as flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and percussion to name a few. After hearing students play these instruments on Ms.Keenan's website click on the links below to hear the sounds of other musicians performing on these same instruments. Which instrument is your favorite?

Visit Ms. Keenan's Website: https://waylandelementaryband.weebly.com/index.html
Click on the instruments to hear various performances!

2. Get your recorder out and learn a fun harmony part for Ode to Joy.
3. Play the harmony part along with this video of the melody.
Can you play the harmony part along with this recording of the melody by yourself?
Hi 3rd Graders,
Today your lesson is all about the music staff and naming the treble clef notes. Today you will watch a video to review the names of the notes on the staff. Then you will use objects in your house to create your own music staff with five lines. You will also use objects around your house as notes to write a word on the music staff. Be creative and have fun with the objects you use!
Watch this video: Lines and Spaces
Review the notes on the music staff:
Use household items (string, yarn, tape etc.) to create the five lines of the music staff. Find objects to use as notes (stuffed animals, coins, rocks etc.). Place them on your homemade music staff and create a word. You can make up your own word or choose from this list: BED, CABBAGE, EDGE, CAFE, ADD. See the pictures below for examples. Be creative and have fun.
Take a picture of your creation and send it to me. Tell me what word you spelled. Bernadette_Vanaria@wayland.k12.ma.us
Hi Third Graders,
We’ve been working hard on learning to read music and getting a great sound on the note “E”. Today, let’s get creative - it’s time for you to be the composer! You will be creating your own song to play on your recorder! Here’s what you will need to do:
Print out the directions with the music measures: Recorder Composition
You need to make a 4 measure long piece of music. The first measure is done for you!! For the rest, cut out the measures of your choice and glue them on the template. Remember a double bar line represents the end of the music, so be sure to only use a measure with a double bar line at the end for your last measure!
Label the names of the notes if you need to, then practice playing your piece! Remember to play the du-de’s faster than the du’s.
Send in a picture of your composition and/or a recording of you playing it to me at Bernadette_Vanaria@wayland.k12.ma.us I can’t wait to hear you!
Hi Third Graders,
Last week, you learned the new note Low E. This week, you are going to learn a new song on your recorder that uses the new note E called “Skin and Bones”. You may have heard it or even sung it in music class! It’s a spooky song that is typically sung around Halloween. First, you will play a Name That Note game! Have fun!
CLICK HERE to play Name That Note. Remember the LINES of the music staff : “Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge” and the SPACES spell “FACE”. Play a few times and see if you can beat your last score!
CLICK HERE to watch a silly video for “Skin and Bones”.
Download the music: Skin & Bones Sheetmusic
*Print it out if you can, and label the note names.
Practice the song a few times until you feel confident!
Send a recording to Bernadette_Vanaria@wayland.k12.ma.us I can’t wait to hear you!
