Chromebooks

My keyboard is not typing in the correct letters!

Make sure your keyboard is set to "US" instead of "INTL" or another language (Next to the time is where you see the keyboard setting)

Some sites that worked for me before are not loading.

Make sure you are connected to the wifi. Refresh the page and see if that helps. You may need to clear your cache-

In Chrome Settings, scroll down to Advance click on it. Choose Clear Browsing History and select the options below:

  • For Time range choose All Time

  • Check Cookies and other site data

  • Check Cached images and files

  • Click on Clear Data

My mouse is acting up, the Chromebook is sluggish, and it keeps dropping the wifi!

You should do a full restart on your Chromebook.

My Chromebook isn't charging- what do I do?

Sometimes, Chromebooks are a bit finicky when it comes to charging. If you let your Chromebook drop to 0%, there may be no charging light for a bit, and then it should turn dark red. If there is no charging light:

  • Make sure the cable going from the Chromebook to the power block is completely plugged in.

  • Plug in the charger to the wall and then into your Chromebook.

  • If that does not work, do the opposite- plug your Chromebook into the charger and then into the wall.

  • Try a different outlet.

  • If you are able, try the power cord with a different Chromebook, or try your Chromebook with a different power cord.

  • A way to "wake up" your Chromebook also is by pressing and holding ESC + Refresh (The circle arrow key), then pressing and releasing Power. A screen may pop up asking to insert a USB - do NOT do this! Once you get to that screen, power off your Chromebook again, wait a few seconds, then start your Chromebook with the Power button as usual. Try this method with the Chromebook plugged in the entire time and also after you turn off your Chromebook from the white screen.

  • When you have done all of those steps with no luck, please contact the help desk.
