Hi there! My name is Mrs. Stevens, and I am the Gifted and Talented teacher at both H.T. Wiley Intermediate and Case Middle Schools. I have been teaching here in Watertown since 2017, working with grades 4 through 6. When the opportunity to work with Gifted and Talented students presented itself in 2024, I jumped at the opportunity and have been fortunate to work in this department ever since!
I received my Bachelor’s in Anthropology from SUNY Geneseo in 2014, my Master’s in Teaching in 2017 from SUNY Potsdam, and I am now continuing my education through the University at Buffalo.
In addition to teaching Gifted and Talented, I am an advisor for the National Elementary Honor Society at Wiley Intermediate. I am also the Person in Charge of Olympiads (PICO) for Math Olympiads at Wiley; Math Olympiads is a competitive, international program that challenges students to solve complex math questions with higher-order thinking.
While challenging my students with collaborative, engaging PBL (project/problem-based) opportunities, I enjoy learning alongside them as we explore new ideas, take creative risks, and grow through problem-solving. My goal is to foster curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning that my students will carry with them far beyond our classroom.
