For this project, you will explore the idea of identity by writing poetry in different forms and styles. In class, you will be using Poetry Task Cards to try different types of poetry.
~ You will write a draft of each of the following:
1 “ I Am” Poem
1 Ode
1 Sonnet
1 Ballad
You must also try at least one of the following “red” poem types: 18, 19, 34, 36, 42, 43, 44
~You must write a draft of at least 5 of the following (color coded green): 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 27, 29, 30, 31, 39, 40.
~You must try at least one of the following (color coded purple): 3, 11, 17, 20, 24, 25, 26, 32, 35, 37, 38
You will choose at least 10 poems of different types to polish and illustrate for your published book. You must have at least one ode, ballad or sonnet in your book. You must also have at least 3 of the other poetry forms in your book. One may be free verse.
