Curriculum:

Our five main areas of focus for 7th grade English Language Arts are:

1. Reading Informational Text

2. Reading Literature

3. Speaking & Listening

4. Writing

5. Language (grammar, usage, mechanics)

We will incorporate these topics into every unit, and students will be assessed on their proficiency within these categories.

• August: Bootcamp & Basics Review

• September: Literature Circles

• October: Finish Literature Circles; Reader's Theater

• November: A Christmas Carol & Historical Fiction

• December: A Christmas Carol & Multimedia Literacy

• January: Sentences, Formal Writing, and Vocabulary

• February: Invention Research

• March: Informational Reading and Debates

• April: Civil War and Historical Fiction

• May: From the Past to the Future--Synthesizing the Year
