Frequently Asked Questions

How to make up for missing assignments?

The majority of assignments are submitted through Canvas.  The course page is designed in chronological order; therefore, it is easy to access material that has been recently taught in class along with the assignments.

Is there a late deduction on submitting late work?

Yes!  There is a 3% deduction per day the assignment is late.  If a student was absent the assignment was assigned, they will receive an additional day and have an extended due date.  This is best to organize with the teacher to make sure you are aware of the new due date.

If I am absent due to a school event, will I loose participation points for that day?

No!  An absence due to a school sponsored activity is excused.  The points that would have been earned for the day will be exempt.  It is best to communicate these absences with your teacher if this were to occur.

How can I make up participation points?

Participation points cannot be made up.  It is very important to attend class, as class time is where learning takes place.  However, there are times when you would have much rather been in class than absent from school.  Ex: Sick/medical appointment, funeral, etc.   If this is the case, a note or email from your guarding regarding your absences is required to have the absences excused.  It is best to communicate these absences with our teacher if this were to occur.

If you were absent out of choice (because of an extended weekend of skipping a Friday or a Monday or wanting to have an extended lunch and skipping class), you are unable to make up the points.

Am I able to re-do an assignment to receive a better score?

Absolutely!  We encourage you to make adjustments to an assignment to show your understanding.  If you're willing to put in the effort to re-do an assignment, we're happy to grade it.
