Online Fitness for Life: Course Syllabus
Hello! Welcome to Online Fitness for Life. My name is Mrs. Clay, and I look forward to working with you. This semester class will help you understand the importance of developing and maintaining an active lifestyle. As a result of this class, you will learn how to make positive choices that will improve your health and fitness.
NOTE: This is a online Canvas course, therefore, your primary area to view your current grade will be on Canvas. Grades will not sync to PowerSchool until the end of the semester.
There are 2 parts to this course:
The Online Coursework - To access the coursework, follow the outline on the home page. You must complete the course in order, but you are free to move at your own pace. In order to be successful in this class, it is IMPERATIVE that you read through all tools provided to help you complete the assignments and quizzes. Most quizzes will have the option of multiple attempts, however, your final grade will be averaged on the two attempts.
Fitness Log - You will track your physical activities on a Fitness Log throughout the semester. You must have at least 20 hours of exercise for each quarter of this class (20 hours during quarter 1 --- 350 points, and additional 20 hours during quarter 2 --- 350 points). You must have at least 5 separate log submissions per quarter. (View the video and document on how to make multiple log submissions.) When you consistently add activities to your Fitness Log it provides evidence that activities are performed throughout the semester.
Note...Stay on track: My recommendation -
During Quarter 1, complete Units 1, 2, 3 and at least 20 hours in your Quarter 1 Fitness Log (due: Fri, Oct 6).
During Quarter 2, complete Units 4, 5, 6 and at least 20 hours in your Quarter 2 Fitness Log (due: Wed, Dec 13).
With this said, please be reminded that due dates are set up as a pacing guide, but the Q1 and Q2 Fitness Logs have a FIRM deadline (you cannot make up hours that should have been completed within the 1st quarter and add them onto your second quarter fitness log).
*** Q1 Fitness Log due date: Fri, Oct 6
*** Q2 Fitness Log due date: Wed, Dec 13
The latest date that the remaining coursework will be accepted is Wednesday, December 13 at 11:59pm.
No quarter grade: Because this is a semester class, you will NOT receive a quarter grade. The points earned from the first quarter of the semester will roll over to the final quarter. You will have the remaining quarter to complete all assignments within the course (with the exception of the Q3 log). As a reminder...This is a online Canvas course, therefore, the primary area to view your current grade will be on Canvas. Grades will NOT sync to PowerSchool until two weeks prior to the end of the semester (Friday, December 1).
