Welcome to January: A Fresh Start!
Dear Families,
Happy New Year! I hope your winter break was filled with rest, laughter, and quality time with loved ones. There is something truly special about the energy in our hallways during the first week of January; it feels like a "second opening day" filled with renewed focus and bright smiles (and maybe some sleepy smiles as well).
As we flip the calendar to 2026, we aren’t just returning to our routines—we are stepping into a season of growth and discovery. While the weather outside might be chilly, things are heating up inside our classrooms as students dive into new projects, winter sports, and exciting mid-year goals.
Thank you for being such incredible partners in your child’s education. Your support is the "secret sauce" that makes our school community so warm and successful, even in the middle of winter.
Let’s make this January a month to remember!
Warmly,
Jenna Louderback, principal

A recent update to state code has been added to our Attendance Handbook on page 11. Act 47 of 2025 amended the School Code to prohibit a student who is habitually truant from transferring during the school year to a cyber charter school, unless a judge determines that the transfer is in the best interests of the student. A child is habitually truant if the child is subject to compulsory school laws and has incurred six or more school days of unexcused/unlawful absences during the current school year. We appreciate the partnership with parents to encourage school attendance.
From January 1 through March 31, everyone who shops at GIANT, MARTIN’S, and GIANT Heirloom Market stores will be invited to “round up” their bill to the closest dollar. The round up funds raised will support Feeding School Kids. Customers can also give by converting their CHOICE Rewards Points to donations in the GIANT app.

In music class we finished up our unit on pitch and musical notation. Students were learning about the musical staff and the placement of notes and solfege syllables on the treble clef staff. When we return from winter break we will begin our study of musical instruments. We will be reading and interacting with books, learning about instrument families and learning about instruments from all over the world. Chorus and Orff are in our final few rehearsals before our chorus concert Wednesday, February 4th at 6:30pm in the gymnasium.
In Art we are beginning paint projects. Each grade level is working on specific standards related to painting. We can't wait to see the finished projects!
Great job to Cole Perry, Finn Ashcroft and Evelyn Pluta!
