Principles of Cosmetology offers an introduction to cosmetology with emphasis on basic practical skills and theories including roller control, quick styling, shampooing, hair coloring, permanent waving, facials, manicuring, business and personal ethics, and bacteriology and sanitation. Successful completion of the course requires at least 375 Cosmetology studio hours.

Credits: 2 semester course, 5 periods, 4 credits per semester
Counts as a directed elective or elective for all diplomas
This course may require extended hours of participation in order to meet the 1500 hours required for the Cosmetology exams.

Internship is incorporated in this course.
There is a $600 program fee for this course due before the first day of school.
Enrollment in this course enters students in our random drug testing pool.

Advanced Cosmetology will emphasize the development of advanced skills in styling, hair coloring, permanent waving, facials and manicuring. Students will also study anatomy and physiology as it applies to cosmetology. Successful completion of the course requires at least 375 Cosmetology studio hours.
Required Prerequisites: Principles of Cosmetology and Cosmetology Fundamentals

Credits: 2 semester course, 4 periods, 4 credits per semester
Acceptance to program required. (Acceptance method varies from program to program.)
Must have earned dual credit in Principles of Cosmetology and Cosmetology Fundamentals to be eligible for dual credit in these courses.
Students may choose to have a delayed start each day.
Class is 12:30-4:30 daily.

Cosmetology Capstone builds and improves previously developed skills with emphasis on developing individual techniques. Professionalism, shop management, psychology in relation to cosmetology, and preparation for state board examination are stressed. Successful completion of the course requires at least 375 Cosmetology studio hours.
