We hope that each and every one of you had a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break! We were so glad to see our eagles back in our nest!!
In case you haven't heard, we got a visit from Muriel Summers (the former principal who created Leader in Me) yesterday. She came to tell us that we got our Legacy status!!! Whoohoo!!! I am beyond proud of our community and our nest! We are going to celebrate BIG!!
We are gearing up for our school-wide performance of The Wizard of Oz. If you would like to watch the show at Warren East High School, you can purchase tickets here. We will be taking the entire school to watch the performance on April 23rd. Field trip permission forms were sent out yesterday, and we will need them back by tomorrow. This is free, we just need your permission for the kids to ride the busy to Warren East High School. I know that is a quick turnaround, but we appreciate you taking the time to fill this form out.
Before spring break, we experienced several situations where students were being unkind to their peers by using language that was hurtful and not appropriate for school. These situations caused disruptions to the learning environment. When speaking with students, many shared that they had heard or learned this language from sources such as YouTube, social media, video games, and television. At North Warren, we have always worked with parents/guardians to create a positive and safe learning environment for all students. We are asking for your partnership in continuing that effort. Please take some time to talk with your child about what language and behaviors are appropriate for school, and how certain things they may see or hear in media are not suitable for the school setting. With your support, we are confident we can finish the school year strong and continue to provide a respectful and productive environment for all students. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping make our school a great place to learn.
It's crazy to think that March always brings us thinking about next school year. Open Enrollment for the 26-27 school year has opened up this week! Every student will need to be registered. You can find step by step directions on how to do that here. We will not add kids to class rosters until we have them enrolled in the system. If you need help, please don't hesitate to call the school. If you know of anyone that will be enrolling as a kindergartner, please encourage them to enroll as soon as possible as this helps us determining classrooms and class sizes.
Thank you all for all you do at home and all the support you give us each and every day! Have a great rest of your week, and please let us know if there's anything we can do for you!

Our goal this year is to have 97% daily student attendance. With that said, teachers and the front office will be reaching out more often to check on your children if they are absent. Official letters will be sent home if a student has three, six, or ten unexcused absences. If a student reaches six or ten unexcused absences, then our truancy officer will be contacted. Parents get seven parent notes. If your child misses school, please provide a parent note or doctor's excuse within five school days of the absence. Also, please take note of our new truancy law for this school year. You may click here to read more about it.
