Principal's Newsletter
May 13, 2025
I can't believe this is my last Principal's newsletter for the 24-25 school year! Time sure does fly by when you're having fun, and I can tell you that we most certainly had fun this year!! I have loved spending a full year at the nest, and watching our eagles grow from day one! I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful family!
We will be having our promotion ceremonies on Monday, May 19th. Please see below for the scheduled times. We did keep the format the same as we did last year. If you have students in grades that are going together, teachers have been working with each other to ensure that one student would be going first, and the other sibling would be going last so that you are able to attend both promotion ceremonies. Please reach out to your children's teachers if you have any questions. Because these events are during the school day and students are in the building, we will need to do a pre-registration form to sign everyone into Raptor. If anyone who doesn't receive this newsletter is planning on attending, please remind them that they will need to have their driver's license to sign in and to pick up their visitor badge. These will need to be completed by Thursday afternoon to ensure that we get everyone printed before Monday morning. If you are planning to attend the 6th grade breakfast and promotion ceremony, please click here to access the pre-registration form. If you are planning to attend Kindergarten-5th grade promotion ceremonies, please click here to access the pre-registration form. pre-registration for K-6 awards day.
Please make sure that you are logging into your Parent Portal and enrolling your child for next school year. We will start dividing classrooms up right after school, and I will not assign anyone to a class until they have been enrolled. I wish this was something that we could do just one time, but unfortunately it is something we parents/guardians have to do every single year. Please take a look at this document to help guide you through registering new and existing students. We will be having a competition again this year to see which classroom gets the most students to enroll. If you have any questions or need help with enrolling your child, please don't hesitate to reach out to our front office for help!
Earlier this year, 6th grade students began working on their Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with Mrs. Bush during guidance class. They started by completing an interest assessment to explore their strengths and career options. Each student then selected three careers of interest and created a presentation based on their findings. Last week, we finalized ILPs for this year. The ILP process will continue to grow each year, helping students build self-awareness, explore opportunities, set goals, and monitor their progress. I encourage you to review your child’s ILP and engage in conversations that support their growth and future planning. Please take a look at this letter that explains the ILP process in more detail. I appreciate Mrs. Lindsey stepping in after Winter Break and ensuring that these were completed.
I do have some exciting news about meals provided during the summer!! The district will provide six days worth of breakfast and lunch meals for FREE!!! This will be every Monday from 12:15-2:00 starting June 2nd-July 21st! You can pick your food up in the back parking lot-you will not have to come into the building. It would be great if students are present for meal pick-up, but not necessary. This is more for our sweet cafeteria staff to see them and give them hugs! Adults will need to give their name and names of students and what school they attend. You can pick up the food at any school on the flier below, so if you live closer to Warren East Middle, you can do that instead of driving to NW. More information will be sent before the end of the year, so be on the lookout for that! This is definitely something I am super excited for our families and students!!
I hope you all have a wonderful and safe rest of your week and a wonderful, fun-filled summer!! As long as students have access to the internet, they will still have access to their Amira, iReady, and IXL counts through the end of June. The next school year (on our end) officially starts July 1st, so all information will roll over to the next grade level, so those accounts will be locked until the beginning of the school year when they are enrolled in their new grade level. Just wanted to pass that information along to you if you are looking for something the students could work on while at home. I will definitely miss all of our eagles over the summer!

Our goal this year is to have 96% daily student attendance. With that said, teachers and the front office will be reaching out more often to check on your children if they are absent. Official letters will be sent home if a student has three, six, or ten unexcused absences. If a student reaches six or ten unexcused absences, then our truancy officer will be contacted. Parents get seven parent notes. If your child misses school, please provide a parent note or doctor's excuse within five school days of the absence. Also, please take note of our new truancy law for this school year. You may click here to read more about it.
