This has been such a wonderful week!!  We had our first birthday celebration for our August birthdays, recognized positive office referrals, had our first Kona Ice day, and gave out our first weekly awards today.  Congratulations to these classrooms for winning: Perfectly Attendance: Mrs. Mary's Kindergartners with 98.57% percent and Mrs. Harp's fourth graders with 98.33%; Golden Shoe: Mrs. Jones' 1st graders and Ms. Murphy's 5th graders; Silver Spoon: Mrs. Sams' 3rd graders and Mrs. Roberts' 6th graders; and Bronze Broom: Ms. Woodson's third graders and Ms. Hagan's 5th graders.

We will be sending home this newsletter every Friday evening, and teachers will be sending newsletters on Fridays throughout the year. On Tuesday, we will be having our individual fall pictures (these will be the ones that will be in the yearbook). Be checking your email a few weeks after for the link to order pictures-everything is done from home, but all pictures will be delivered to school and sent home.  We will do picture retakes on October 27th for those students who are absent on September 1st.  

Also coming up in the next couple of weeks is our Grandparents' Day celebration. This will be on September 10th, from 5:30-7:00 in the gym (everyone will enter in the front where our car riders enter each morning).We will have light refreshments and lots of opportunities for kids to walk away with lots of books. Students can come dressed up like elderly people or their grandparents.   We can't wait to play BINGO with our grands!! 

September has us learning about Habit #1: Be Proactive.  Below you can find ways to help your eagle be proactive.  We will be looking for leaders at the end of September who exemplified being proactive all month.  

Habit #1: Be Proactive

Being proactive means taking responsibility for our choices, words, and actions. Instead of waiting for someone else to tell us what to do, we look for ways to make good choices and solve problems on our own.

🏠 Try it at home:

Have your child get their backpack ready without being reminded.

Encourage them to take responsibility when they make a mistake.

Ask, “What can YOU do to solve this problem?”

Praise them when they take initiative or make a good choice without being asked.

This month, encourage your child to “Be Proactive!” and take ownership of their choices.

Student Attendance

Our goal this year is to have 96% daily student attendance. With that said, teachers and the front office will be reaching out more often to check on your children if they are absent. Official letters will be sent home if a student has three, six, or ten unexcused absences. If a student reaches six or ten unexcused absences, then our truancy officer will be contacted. Parents get five parent notes. If your child misses school, please provide a parent note or doctor's excuse within five school days of the absence.  Also, please take note of our new truancy law for this school year.  You may click here to read more about it.
