We have had a wonderful week back from Fall Break.  We loved seeing all of the places and things that SOAR the Eagle was able to do while on break.  If you haven't seen our video, you can view it here.  Thank you for sending them back in.  We will be doing this again during Spring Break.

This week we celebrated our October Leaders of the Month at our Leader to Leader Time.  Chief Franks came and talked about the importance of being proactive, and ways he has to be proactive in his job.  The students gave examples of how they can be leaders inside and outside of school.  After that, the students played a game together where they had to work together as a team-they then turned around and related this game to the different habits!  We also hosted our first Leading Ladies meeting this week.  A big thank you to Mrs. Baird and Ms. Murphy for providing this opportunity for our 5th and 6th graders.  

We were able to share yesterday that North Warren remained green on last year's KSA results.  Our overall score was 70.8.  We are so proud of all of our eagles for their hard work and determination on last year's KSA assessments.  This upcoming year will bring some changes from previous years.  We will no longer be assessed in writing in 5th grade and students will not take the Quality of School Climate and Safety Survey.  Next year, Chronic Absenteeism will be factored into our overall score (4%) and will be determined if a student misses more than 10% of the school year (excused or unexcused).  Students will also receive points based on their individual growth in reading and math from prior years.  We will be handing out individual student scores at our upcoming parent/teacher conferences on November 2nd (be looking for more information regarding that in the coming weeks).

Don't forget that tonight is our annual Fall Festival.  It starts at 5:00.  You can purchase your tickets at the ticket booth.  Thank you for all the items you have sent in, and coming out to support our schools.  Your support helps us support our eagles and provide the very best for them.  

On October 30th, we will have our fall parties.  If you have logged in with our Raptor system, you can pre-register using this link.  This link will close on Wednesday, October 28th at 12:00 to ensure we have time to print out all of the name tags.  

In October, we will be focusing on Habit #2: Begin with the End in Mind.  This habit is definitely one that we try to instill in our eagles because it's always important for them to set goals, work towards those goals, and celebrate when those goals are met.  Ask your child about the goals they have set and track in their leadership portfolios.

At North Warren, we want our Eagles to learn that big accomplishments often begin with a simple plan! Habit #2 means thinking about what we want to achieve and making choices that help us reach our goals.

🏠 How can you practice at home?

Plan for success: Before a busy day, talk about what needs to get done and decide what to do first.

Set a goal: Help your child choose something they want to learn or improve, then brainstorm small steps to reach it.

Celebrate progress: Talk about what went well and what they could do differently next time.

💙 Family Challenge: Ask your child, “What is one goal you have, and what is one thing you can do this week to work toward it?”

Remember, Eagles, when we have a clear goal and a plan to reach it, we are taking steps toward success! 🦅

Student Attendance

Our goal this year is to have 96% daily student attendance. With that said, teachers and the front office will be reaching out more often to check on your children if they are absent. Official letters will be sent home if a student has three, six, or ten unexcused absences. If a student reaches six or ten unexcused absences, then our truancy officer will be contacted. Parents get five parent notes. If your child misses school, please provide a parent note or doctor's excuse within five school days of the absence.  Also, please take note of our new truancy law for this school year.  You may click here to read more about it.
