We have had such a great week back at the Nest.  We continued celebrating our September Leaders of the Month with our Leader to Leader time (a special thank you to Mayor Stiffey for coming and talking to our leaders about the importance of being a good leader), had several positive office referrals to share, and even got to spend time with some wonderful GRAND-people at our BINGO for Books night last night. What an amazing turn out!! Thank you to everyone that came!!     

Next week is another short week.  Please remember that we do not have school on Friday, September 18th due to a District-wide PLC day for staff.  

Looking ahead: On September 24th and 25th, students will get to participate in an art project when they go to art class.  They will be making a Chihuly chandelier to display at school.  I am so excited for this-the kids are going to love it and they're going to love seeing their project displayed.  Every student will need a plastic water bottle.  Please save those up and send those in!

September has us learning about Habit #1: Be Proactive.  Below you can find ways to help your eagle be proactive.  We will be looking for leaders at the end of September who exemplified being proactive all month.  

🦅 Habit #1: Be Proactive — “I’m in Charge of Me!”

Being proactive means understanding that we are in charge of our choices and actions. We can’t always control what happens, but we can control how we respond.

💭 Ask your child this week:

“What is something you can do without being reminded?”

“What can you do when something doesn’t go your way?”

“How can you be a problem-solver instead of waiting for someone else to fix it?”

Family Challenge: Catch your child being proactive this week! When you see them taking responsibility, making a good choice, or solving a problem on their own, say: “That was proactive!” 🦅💙

Student Attendance

Our goal this year is to have 96% daily student attendance. With that said, teachers and the front office will be reaching out more often to check on your children if they are absent. Official letters will be sent home if a student has three, six, or ten unexcused absences. If a student reaches six or ten unexcused absences, then our truancy officer will be contacted. Parents get five parent notes. If your child misses school, please provide a parent note or doctor's excuse within five school days of the absence.  Also, please take note of our new truancy law for this school year.  You may click here to read more about it.
