Welcome to the Weekly Journals of John Burns Primary School.
These journals will help you to understand what John Burns have been up to on a weekly basis as they have moved through their journey.
Entries are in reverse order so the latest available week is at the top. The earlier weeks will be at the bottom.
What we did this week...
The Apple Pencil was ready for us to use immediately, having already been paired in advance of the lesson. We were confident in using the Apple Pencil in Notes to create our own content.
Some pupils were able to draw on prior experience outside of school. A few talented artists in the class were already familiar with using Apple Pencils. One child produced a detailed drawing of an eye. She was particularly skilled in using the tool palette and shared how she has learnt some tools and techniques from tutorials, e.g. tutorials in the Ibis Paint X App

What we did this week...
During the first session we learnt about how to look after the iPads. This included reference to iPad rules – non-negotiables.
We then explored the functions along the top row of the Logitech keyboard. Not all of us were familiar with all keyboard commands.
We had lots of opportunity to contribute during the lesson as well as time to practise skills. The interactive whiteboard slides also assisted in providing us with a breakdown of tasks to complete. We enjoyed learning about Accessibility tools, especially the Speak Selection and Dictation functions.
We used a number of Apps during the session, e.g., Notes/Keynotes and Photos. Interestingly, we were not able to apply our existing skills and experience of using software packages like the Keynote app used in today’s session, e.g., Google Slides, PowerPoint.
