The Battersea Project is a partnership between Apple and Wandsworth Local Authority, created to mark Apple’s arrival in Wandsworth. Apple has a long history of supporting education and has worked closely with Wandsworth for many years through the Wandsworth Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC), which continues to lead and deliver this project.
With Apple’s UK Headquarters now based at the newly regenerated Battersea Power Station, this partnership is opening new opportunities for children across Wandsworth schools. These opportunities take place both in school and through supported visits to Apple Stores and Apple’s UK Headquarters, giving pupils and teachers direct access to inspiring, hands-on experiences.
A core strand of the project focuses on providing whole-class sets of iPads to selected schools. The RTC team introduces these devices through a series of engaging lessons for students, supported by staff training to build confidence and ensure a lasting legacy.
In addition, the project now includes a new Accessibility and Inclusion strand, working directly with schools to explore how iPad can transform learning for pupils with SEND. Apple has provided devices for use within resource bases across Wandsworth, supporting one-to-one learning and empowering pupils to engage more actively in lessons. Schools already using iPads are also being encouraged to identify and share how accessibility features can open up learning and participation for every child.
This website brings together the resources, lessons, and stories from our shared journey. You’ll find ready-to-use lesson slides, guidance on the Apple Teacher programme, and examples of the incredible work created by our pupils. As the project grows, this space will continue to celebrate innovation, creativity, and inclusion across Wandsworth schools.
