Pilot Project

The discussions around this project started way back in 2021. With the pilot project delivery starting in the Summer of 2022.

Sacred Heart RC Primary School and St Marys RC Primary School came together when they were gifted class sets of iPad devices from Apple. Along their journey they had introductory sessions to get them started, a Summer School based on being creative with the iPad devices. They also got the chance to visit the Regent Street Apple Store a couple of times.

As the Summer ended and the Autumn Term started they turned their focus to coding and using Apple's Swift Playgrounds app. These sessions were delivered as part of afterschool clubs that were really fun and had an amazing turn out.

As the pilot project came to a close at the end of 2022 the celebrations started. The schools have been to the brand new Apple Headquarters in the regenerated Battersea Power Station for a visit. Where they wowed Apple staff with their content. Next came the turn of apple to visit the schools to have a look at what the children were up to in class.

They were visited by lots of Apple and Wandsworth Local Authority staff. Even the Apple CEO himself, Tim Cook. Everyone that visited them were very impressed. So impressed that Apple decided to widen the project and work with even more schools in Wandsworth. Thanks to the creativity and hard work of the pupils at Sacred Heart and St Mary's more children will be able to experience the project and all of the amazing opportunities that it brings.
