Varsity Coach: Sydney Lindstrom

Coach Lindstrom has been a licensed youth soccer coach and an MIAA certified coach since 2010. She began coaching high school players at North High in Worcester, MA; she then served as the WHS JVA girls' soccer coach from 2013-2015. Coach Lindstrom became the varsity coach for the Hawks in 2016. A graduate from Auburn High School in Auburn, MA, Coach Lindstrom earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Clark University. Coach Lindstrom is also an English teacher at WHS and has a passion for providing opportunities for all students to be well-adjusted student-athletes. When she is not in the classroom or on a field, Coach Lindstrom is spending precious time with her three young children, Natalie, Gabriel, and Marceline.

Varsity Associate Coach: Paul Bucelwicz

Coach Bucelwicz (known as 'Coach Paul' by WYS players) has been the varsity associate coach for WHS since 2013. He holds a USSF 'C' License and United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma and has been a coach since 2010. Coach Bucelwicz is the President for Waltham Youth Soccer and also coaches the U14-1 Girls' team. He is also head coach for SFC New England 2009 Girls. Coach Bucelwicz graduated from Needham High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology with a degree in Computer Science. Even though he seems to always be on a soccer field, he is also a Senior Software Developer at CLD Inc in Belmont, MA.

JVA Coach: Noelia Vega

Coach Vega is a graduate from Waltham High School, where she played soccer all four years and was a varsity captain her senior year. Coach Vega was a high-achieving and highly memorable student at WHS; she is currently a student at Brandeis University where she is pursuing her degree in Health Science on the Pre-Med track. She is also part of the Brandeis Women's Soccer Club. Coach Vega has coached for Waltham Youth Soccer for several years and began her career with coaching at Waltham High in 2021. Coach Vega is also an Assistant Coach for SFC New England.

Coach Vega speaks English, Spanish, and French.

JVB Coach: Maggie Kiley

Coach Kiley is an teacher in the Multilingual Program at Waltham High School. Coach Kiley's main sport when she was a high schooler at Algonquin High School in Northborough, MA was track--she was a hurdler and a sprinter. Coach Kiley also played soccer throughout her childhood and part of high school, and she's been coaching soccer at Waltham High since 2021. Coach Kiley loves to stay active by running and playing soccer with her friends. One of her favorite things about soccer is being part of a team; she strives to foster that same love in her players.

Coach Kiley speaks English and Spanish.


Goalkeeper Coach: Karsten Nielsen

Coach Nielsen (known as ‘Coach Karsten’) has been working with the WHS goalkeeper crew since 2021. He holds a UEFA C diploma through the Scottish FA, and Goalkeeping Level 3 and Performance Analysis Level 2 diplomas through the United Soccer Coaches. In addition to goalkeeping, Coach Karsten helps record games, and works on utilizing video review and performance analysis to improve learning.

 

Originally from Denmark, Coach Karsten came to the US as a Fulbright Scholar and was a graduate student in Computer Science at the University of Florida and the University of Michigan. He has been living in Waltham since 2006 and is the proud father of two children including a daughter at WHS and a son at McDevitt Middle School. When not coaching, he works as a Software Architect for Ellevation Education in Boston, MA.

2023 Assistant Coach: Lily Schaufus

Coach Schaufus graduated from Waltham High in 2019. During her time at Waltham High, she played varsity soccer and was a varsity captain her senior year. Coach Schaufus grated from the University of Florida, and she will attend law school in 2024!

Strength & Conditioning Coach: Courtney Boynton

Courtney Boynton is the Head Certified Athletic Trainer for Waltham High School. Courtney has been an Athletic Trainer for over ten years. She is also a WHS alumni; she played soccer, lacrosse, track, and hockey for the Hawks. After graduating WHS, Courtney completed her undergraduate studies in Athletic Training at the University of New Hampshire. 


Along with keeping athletes safe and healthy, Courtney also is extremely passionate about strength and conditioning. During college and the entirety of her athletic trainer career, Courtney has trained and worked with athletes at the high school and collegiate levels. She loves working with athletes in the weight-room and on the field. Courtney continues to fuel her passion by helping the Waltham High student-athletes with preseason, postseason, and also in-season workouts. 


Courtney still believes and maintains having a healthy and active life style. She loves working out in the weight-room, has done CrossFit, is an 8x marathoner, triathlete (half Ironman finisher and full Ironman finisher), and she loves to ski, bike, etc. 


Waltham Girls' Soccer is fortunate to have Courtney go above and beyond in dedicating her time and efforts to our crew!
