What is the mission of the Walpole METCO Parent Leadership Advisory Board (WPAB)?

The MISSION of the Walpole METCO Parent Advisory Board consists of supporting the goals and qualities held by METCO, Inc. and the Walpole School District; it has come to formulate its own values built on community, voices, program fundraising, and growth.


Who is the Walpole METCO Parent Advisory Board?

The WPAB is comprised of Parent volunteers who have students enrolled in the Walpole METCO Program. There are currently two (2) positions of Secretary and Treasurer, a Parent Representatives for High School, Middle School and Elementary Schools.

The goal is to have two (2) Parent Representatives for each grade level in order that we always have an alternate to attend meetings or assist in mass emails and/or telephone calls to Walpole METCO Parents.

What does the Walpole METCO Parent Advisory Board (WPAB) do?

The goals of the WPAB is to assist and partner with the METCO Program Director in delivering student academic information, generate revenue to assist in FUN “D”ING scholarships for high school students, supplementing youth mentoring programs throughout the year as well as conducting fundraisers to offset costs. Associated costs to the Walpole METCO program events are apple picking, youth sporting events and/or holiday celebration events.


Since its establishment in the 2017-2018 school year, the WPAB has successfully:


  • Assisted with collection of Walpole METCO family dues ($30 annually)

  • Fundraiser to support program efforts/ student activities

  • Annual Holiday Celebration

  • Outreach and support to parents in the program

  • Contribute to the Walpole METCO Program Newsletter

  • Soul Food Luncheon

  • Annual Parent Advisory Retreat

  • Apple Picking

  • Facilitates parent meetings and workshops

  • Annual Ice Cream Social

  • Scholarship funding for graduating Walpole seniors


As always we welcome more families to participate. The parent advisory looks forward to additional parent advisory members and more parental participation to support various events and programs for our student . Please speak with one of our current Parent Advisory Leaders.
