The children in Burwood have been independently using the app - Chatterkid - in our Phonics programme. Chatterkid is an app that can make any photo or drawing 'talk' by uploading an image, drawing a line to represent the mouth and recording their voice.
After exploring the app during 'sandpit time', we were impressed by the high levels of engagement that the students demonstrated when using the app. We decided to integrate it's use into our Phonics programme.
For the Chatterkid activity the children wrote their site word on their whiteboard, with the challenge of changing one letter to make another word. Once they had done this they took a photo of the whiteboard, uploaded it to Chatterkid, and recorded themselves saying the first, middle and last sound - making their whiteboards come alive and talk!
We loved how much the children were enjoying themselves during the process and how focussed they were on the task.
