Parents
Parent/Guardian's Role in Safely Returning to School
To stay in school, we must commit to the following:
Help children practice using a mask prior to returning to school
Provide a mask for riding the bus (if you need one, please contact the office)
The school is purchasing multiple masks for each person on campus, as well as disposable masks and additional PPE. Masks will be required through the day, with breaks often. Cloth masks will be washed after every use.
Purchased masks will come in 3 sizes: Adult, youth, and child. All will have adjustable ear loops as well.
Students and adults may choose to wear the school-provided masks or bring a clean, 2 ply mask from home, during the school day.
All water fountains will be shut off, due to COVID, but our bottle fillers will be kept on for drink refills. Hydration is important!
West Harrison supporters have donated a clear waterbottle for all of our students to use. It will be the student's responsibility to keep it clean and, if possible, bring it filled and ready each morning! Thank you for the generous donation!
If you would like to send in a water bottle from home, please make sure it is clear.
All attendance issues should go through the office. Please do not contact the teacher if your child is/will be absent or is ill.
Expect to be asked a series of questions related to their illness or absence, in order for the school to determine any necessary next steps.
Communicate with the office if:
your child has symptoms of COVID
Any allergies to latex, soaps, etc.
Keep children home if they display symptoms of covid (see image)
Visitors are restricted unless you have an emergency or an appointment. Please plan accordingly.
No lunch dates
No drop offs of forgotten items
Students will be dropped off at the front door

Iowa's Return to Learn site for families
Our registration will be online for student this year. If you have any problems, please call or email the office staff for assistance!
2020-2021 School Calendar (The first week of school will be 1:30 Early Release)
Supply Lists: We understand that it will be difficult to purchase any cleaning items, hand sanitizer, or Clorox wipes. If you would like to send some to your classroom teachers, please know they would be welcomed but are not a neccesity. We are purchasing ample cleaning supplies for the school. Every little bit helps!
Middle/High School Supply List
This is a new list, made because of COVID. Students will be using a backpack and carrying a materials kit with them.
Teacher's Lesson Plans
This will eventually house teacher lesson plans, to be accessed by all. We aren't quite there yet in our beginning of the year preparations, so stay tuned!
We will work to make all online subscriptions and tools students are using as consistent as possible across grade levels in order to make things easy on the homefront, if it needs to be. As we make some decisions as a staff on what will be used, this list will be continually updated.
Learning Management System:
3rd-12th Grade: Google Classroom
PK-2nd: SeeSaw
IXL: Learning Support Subscription
Google Suite: Many teachers use the Google Suite in their instruction.
Students will receive instruction and training at school (or probably already know more than Mom or Dad!) in Google. If we need to, we will add more to this list or the teacher will send specific information out to students and parents through Classroom or SeeSaw.
G Suite comprises Gmail, Hangouts, Calendar, and Currents for communication; Drive for storage; Docs, Sheets, Slides, Keep, Forms, and Sites.
