Just like regular school, if your child is ill, continue to call them in ill to the school each day. When they are ready to "attend school" from home, call in to the office to let the school know as well. ATTENDANCE IS STILL COMPULSORY, SO WE WILL TAKE ATTENDANCE VIA 1) BEING ON MEET (VIDEO STREAMING) WHEN AVAILABLE AND 2) COMPLETING ANY ASSESSMENTS OR WORK PROVIDED.
Here are the classes/content areas your child HAS to attend:
K-3: Literacy and Math
4-8: Literacy, Math, Science, Social Studies
9-12: All scheduled classes (some may have some work sent to do over the course of the week, if instruction doesn't happen regulary. Example: PE/Weightlifting)
Elementary (K-5) Parents:
Teachers are working on practicing some of the online skills necessary with students at school, so your child may be able to help with accessing their classes.
Checking a child's email (and/or your own) would be a good place to start. There will likely be a link to get started. 3rd-5th students will likely know how to access their Google Classroom page and begin there.
We will need to get technology/materials home ASAP. Please make arrangements to stop by school to pick up their device and other materials through Annette Kuhlman in the Elementary office. If necessary, we can send items via a bus route...please communicate.
6th-12th Parents:
Students should know how to access their classes via Google Classroom and can find a class schedule/times below.
Attendance: We are testing out a new process for taking attendance for our CL students in order to have the most accurate record. We will count attendance, beginning back on September 2. We will record official attendance for our CL students weekly. If there is interest, we can send out a report to you.
YOU NEED TO KNOW: If there is video streaming that day for class, your student is expected to attend (just as if they are a student in the physical classroom). If they are not in attendance on the video, they will be marked absent for class that day. If there is NOT streaming, the teacher will count attendance for work completed on time or may have another way to check attendance.
REMINDER: We are all still under the umbrella of compulsory attendance. That means that the school is required to record attendance and parents/guardians are required to make sure students attend.
K-3: They will be counted as a 1/2 day absent if they miss one of their Literacy or Math classes. Full day absent if both are missed.
4-8: They will be counted as 1/2 day absent if they miss TWO of their four classes: literacy, math, science, social studies. Full day absent if 3 or more are missed.
9-12: For each class/period, attendance will be taken. 1-4 periods missed will be counted as 1/2 day absent. 5-9 periods missed will be counted as a full day.
All assignments and work MUST be completed for the week by the following Monday at 3:30. In order to accurately take attendance, we must have a hard deadline for all assigned work. This is a change/addition. Because we are recording attendance weekly (and assigned work completed is part of required attendance), the deadline for all assignments for the week will be due the following Monday. Example: This week's work will be due next Monday, September 14 at 3:30. As far as attendance is concerned, we are only looking that they have work turned in--not the grade/credit given to their cumulative grade.
In order to get ourselves to a good start, all student work assigned up to this point will be due on Monday, September 14 at 3:30. Anything not submitted by that time will be given a ZERO in the grade book. Please make sure your Continuous Learner has turned in or submitted all work by that deadline.
