The Spoken Word
Exciting things are happening In Mrs. Ragone’s 8th-grade Language Arts class. We experience advanced literature and learn about the great writers of the past. In the first marking period we read, memorized, and analyzed Shakespeare, and read The Prince and The Pauper by Mark Twain. Learning literature helps us to appreciate the art of language and not only understand but to craft our own works of art out of words. Mrs. Ragone’s whimsical teaching methods contribute to the fun and creative learning environment of our classroom. For example, we act out chapters in the books that we read to aid our comprehension and to gain a deeper understanding of the works. We learn and experience literature and we acquaint ourselves with works of literature from the past. Gaining an understanding of the language arts is crucial to be able to articulate one's thoughts and feelings into words. The learning environment of the class and the thoughts and skills we take away assist us on our path to heighten our intelligence and accomplishments in the field of writing.
