Mr. Castellano is a new band teacher at Glen Meadow. He specializes in brass and at times, can be seen working with percussion. He also is the advisor of Jazz Band. Since he was young, around the age of 9, he has been inspired by music. His father was a trumpet player, majorly influencing Mr. Castellano’s choice of instrument. He practices for roughly 30 minutes per day, helping to relieve his stress, as he said in the interview. Overall, Mr. Castellano is a great new addition to the Vernon Township bands and we’re grateful to have him here!

Isn’t crazy that just a few clicks and a few blocks of code can change the world? In the Coding and Robotics Club, we put our technical abilities to the test by adding code to robots to make them do all sorts of things. Robotics and Coding is a group for all Glen Meadow students that want to push themselves to the limits, working on many new and exciting things!
What is so special about the Coding Club? Alejandrina Roman, a former club member, says, “I think Coding Club is such a great club because of how the teacher lets us experiment and try new things.” Many of the other club members, including myself, agree. Mr. Bruno, the club instructor, strives to let us embrace all different types of technology-based things.
Right now, we are embedding code into vex robots. It is exhilarating to work on robots; discovering problems and finding solutions. We have to use our minds to come up with interesting and amazing ideas for the robots.
Mr. Bruno guides us through when we are stuck and lets us take it from there. So if you don’t know much about coding and robotics, that’s ok! You’ll learn so much and have many future opportunities! If you are at all interested, be sure to try it out next year!

This year, Glen Meadow had Volleyball Intramurals, just a tad bit later than usual. In the fall, we were unable to have our typical volleyball intramurals but we were allowed to have them over the course of March and April. This year's intramurals had 12 sessions, which took place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after-school. Mr. Healy, the advisor, wants you to know that it's "for any Glen Meadow student who would like to learn about and improve in a wide range of volleyball skills, make new friends, and have a great time!" So to all the current 6th and 7th graders, and incoming 6th graders, if you're interested in joining the program next year, be sure to check it out!

The Builders’ Club, which has been going on since the beginning of the school year, is a service-oriented club that addresses the needs of a community, helping out in any way possible. According to a member, Kylie Burns, right now they are working on painting rocks for the garden outside with the Art Club.
Another member, Hana O’Brien, says that her favorite part of the club was all “the fundraising and helping out other clubs”. One of the advisors, Mrs. Lopez, says that she appreciates working on many charity work projects with her students to help make the world a better place. They are very open and still accepting new members if you’d like to join and help out your community!
