In this course, students will be covering basic banking with checking and savings accounts (online), and practicing how to analyze income and tax forms, problem-solve budgeting challenges, and gain an understanding of credit cards, loans, in order to think critically about retirement and saving for their future.

In this adult-focused Health Literacy class, students will learn to navigate aspects of the healthcare industry in order to process and analyze health-related challenges and advocate for themselves and others. From understanding medical costs and health insurance systems, to accessing healthcare resources in our community, students will be equipped to access information needed to problem solve and make decisions about their health.

This course will examine the structure of federal, state, and local governments. The rights outlined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights will be examined. It will also examine Civil Justice, social movements of the past and present, and powers of and for the people (rights and responsibilities, the social contract, political philosophies, and more). While the rights of citizenship are often discussed, the inherent responsibilities of being an active, engaged, and well-informed citizen will be studied. Time will be set aside to discuss current events, asking and answering questions, and learning about how to navigate social media, AI, and other sources of information in the modern political landscape to make informed decisions.

In this class, students will follow a flexible, customized, 21st-century unit plan designed to support seeking, obtaining, and retaining employment. Topics covered include best practices in obtaining marketable skills, sourcing references, and navigating common workplace challenges. This class culminates in a series of one-on-one coaching sessions to create a transition plan that will guide you through the steps in your career.

Students will follow the design process to identify and solve a problem using digital resources. Problems can include anything from home & family life, the workplace, community, wellness, or technology.
