This course covers all the skills on the TABE-E, including comprehension and decoding skills. Students may be ELL or low-level readers, not ready for the TABE-M. Coursework includes phonics-based work as well as readings from Commonlit.

This course works backwards from TABE goals to create material that both assists with TABE progression and increases reading skills.

This course uses reading material to cover all the reading skills required to level up. Students will have the option to take this course multiple times (using different reading material) in order to develop a strong reading foundation and achieve their reading goals. Student interest is important when choosing reading material and will be taken into consideration.

This course is designed to help students develop basic grammar skills - parts of speech, sentence structure and punctuation rules - to better prepare them for more complex writing assignments and/or assessments.

This course will cover the writing components required by the Adult Diploma Program but not addressed in the GED Reasoning with Language Arts test.
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00-12:30 beginning January 12, 2026
Students who take this class and meet all requirements will finish a well-researched persuasive paper. Class meetings will focus on each of the steps required to complete their paper including research methods, methods of argumentation, logical fallacies, methods to outline their paper, revisions, and editing.
There are no classes currently scheduled.
Students will be asked to read and evaluate examples of informational writing and research papers, and to draft, revise, edit, and finalize an informational writing piece of their own. Students will also be expected to evaluate sources for credibility and synthesize information for multiple sources to conduct research, outline their writing work, and draw conclusions in answer to their research question.
This 14-week course meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30 beginning March 9, 2026.
