Most jobs and all colleges require applicants to have a high school diploma or GED equivalency diploma. This self-guided course is an introduction to the GED and the four subject tests - Reasoning through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Social Studies, and Science. Participants will become familiar with the format of the GED test and the TI-30XS calculator, review sample questions, and learn test-taking strategies.

This lab is designed to provide students with the support necessary to prepare for taking GED math, science, or Social Studies. We will loosely follow an outline that shifts depending on students' GED Ready results and questions.

This course is intended for students who are preparing for the Math GED. This course offers an introduction to commonly missed topics/questions on the Math GED. The first half of class will introduce students to the topic for that day, the second half of class will be structured as a Q&A for practice questions.

This course is intended for students who are 144 and under on the GED practice test(s) in RLA, Science, or Social Studies. The focus will be on making inferences, analyzing text, and how identifying and using evidence in the text to understand arguments.

This course is intended for students who have a general idea of the foundational skills in math but struggle when working on them. Part 1 of this course is designed to provide students with foundational skills in number sense, whole numbers, squares, cubes, square roots, and fractions. This will allow students to build on their skill set with confidence as they approach more complicated math.

Do you need to brush up on Reading or Writing before taking the GED Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA) test? This lab is intended to help students pass the RLA GED Test. Students will refine their writing, reading comprehension, and critical thinking skills. Students are expected to work with the instructor to identify the subjects and topics on which they need help and commit to improving their understanding and knowledge. This lab would be a good addition OR follow- up to the Grammar, Writing, and Reading courses listed in the Language Arts section of this catalog.

To best prepare for the test, the course will cover the basics of United States History, Government, Geography, Economics, and the context of this material in relation to current events. Students are expected to work with the instructor to identify the subjects and topics on which they need help and commit to improving their understanding and knowledge. This lab would be a good addition OR follow-up to the Civics: US Government course listed in the Social Studies section of this catalog.

This drop-in hour is designed to answer questions about the GED Program, practice tests, scheduling testing (online or in a center), minor permission forms, and proper ID. Do you have a study question? Hop in! We can look at your GED Academy account, GED Ready results or other study materials to problem-solve whatever you may feel stuck on. The group runs weekly and is designed for you to join as needed.
