The MEng CSA Volunteer Priority Enrollment Program is a way for the program to recognize graduate students who give their time to support Virginia Tech events. By volunteering at one qualifying on‑campus event, MEng CSA students can earn priority enrollment into one CS 5000‑level course of their choice (capstone excluded) for an upcoming semester.
Volunteer at a qualifying on‑campus event such as an Open House, webinar, K–12 outreach activity, or similar department‑approved event.
Your event supervisor will submit a verification form confirming that you fully participated: Link to Form
Once the supervisor’s form submission is received and the program verifies your eligibility, you will be added to a priority list to be contacted to select for one CS 5000‑level course of your choice (excluding capstone).
When advisors gain access to registration and if seats are still available after course request results are released, the program will enroll you into a course of your choice.
You are responsible for enrolling in all other courses on your own and ensuring you have no registration holds.
This benefit may be used once per term.
Priority enrollment is not a guarantee—it applies only if seats remain at the time the advising team processes your request.
Only supervisors submit the verification form. Students do not need to submit anything unless asked for clarification.
Events that are normal course activities, class assignments, paid work, club meetings, or events without an official supervisor do not qualify.
This program rewards students who support the Virginia Tech community by helping with high‑impact events. Your contribution directly improves the experience of prospective students, families, and K–12 audiences and this priority enrollment benefit is one way we say thank you!
Students who are graduating in Fall 2026 and wish to request a seat in CS 5934 - Capstone Project must follow the directions outlined: Here
