Register for classes in one of the two possible phases:
Phase 1: Course Request: Course Request occurs during an eight-day period in the middle of each semester during which students may request and be registered electronically for classes for the next semester. Enrollment is not guaranteed and not first-come first-served.
Phase Two: Drop/Add: Add/Drop is used to finalize your class schedule. During the Drop/Add period, you will build upon the courses you received through Course Request or start your course registration if you missed the course request window
Attend CS New Graduate Student Orientation. Orientation is usually held in late August for fall semester, and mid-January for spring semester. Students will receive more information by email in advance.
Official transcripts must be submitted to the Graduate School. Review instructions for submitting transcripts for Blacksburg Campus, or submitting transcripts to the Graduate School D.C. Metro Area. Virginia Tech undergraduate students are not required to submit transcripts. Failure to submit official transcripts will result in a hold on your records, which will prevent you from enrolling in future terms.
Complete the required Online Programs for graduate students in Sexual Assault Prevention. Failure to complete this training will result in a hold on your student account. This will prevent you from enrolling in or dropping classes until completed. You can find that training here: https://students.vt.edu/onlineprograms.html
