If you are interested in submitting Change of Graduate Program Application, please follow the steps below.Â
Your application will not be considered, if you do not show proficiency in CS 5020 OR show proof of completion of an equivalent course at another institution of higher education. CS 5020 is the second level Java programming and data structures course offered by the CS Department at Virginia Tech. You can enroll in CS 5020 at Virginia Tech prior to submitting an Application for Change of Graduate Program.
a. Change of Graduate Program Form, obtain only the signature from the head of your current department
b. A copy of your resume
c. Unofficial VT transcript
d. Copy of transcript from your undergraduate degree
e. A short paragraph answering the following questions:
1. Why do you want to pursue this degree?
2. How do you meet the CS 5020 proficiency requirement?
3. How does this degree complement your current studies at VT?
Submit the entire package above as a SINGLE PDF document to the Computer Science Graduate Program Form Submission Portal.
The Change of Graduate Program package must be submitted at least one month prior to the end of the semester, for consideration for the following semester.
You do not officially become a MEng CS student until the form is signed by Dr. Hooshangi and is approved by the Graduate School.
Please obtain the necessary signatures before turning it into our portal, we will obtain the rest of them and turn it into the Graduate School portal for you if Dr. Hooshangi approves it.
Double check all information is correct and everything is signed before turning into the portal.
No. You cannot request for a force add for the course you'd like before submitting your application. Please wait until your application has been completely processed before adding any courses.
Then it has not yet been fully processed. Please try to submit your paperwork as early as possible if you want to be able to add courses during the time you need it by. We are not responsible for any dates missed if you do not submit your application early enough.
