Annie B. Hunt (1930)

Annie B. Hunt completed her program of advanced training in tuberculosis nursing at Piedmont in the spring of 1930. Hunt was born in 1909 in Lynchburg, Virginia, and lived with her mother, Maude Hill, and grandparents, Phillip and Annie Chambers, while she attended school. When she graduated in May 1930, her grandmother, age 72, aunt, and others “motored to Burkeville to attend the commencement exercises.” After completing the Piedmont training program, Hunt returned to Lynchburg to work as a nurse in a city clinic, while living with her grandmother and other family members. Hunt continued to work in this profession for the rest of her career. In 1987, Hunt died of cancer, and was buried in Forest Hill Burial Park.
