Intro to Graphic Design

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will introduce students to the elements and principles of graphic design.  The basics of Graphic Design, and Photoshop will be taught in this course.  Students will learn basic industry terminology and gain experiences in the areas of layout and design.  Students will actively engage in design, lab and production exercises that will give students the basic knowledge and success in knowing what is required to take a project from concept to completed production.

• Understand and use the main principles of professionally looking designs

• Create a composition and use visual weight, balance, and flow to communicate your message. 

• Describe graphic design techniques and the processes involved in their use today and historically. 

• Combine typefaces and use contrast in a sophisticated way.

• Explain how the principles of design have been used in an original graphic design project.

• Edit a graphic design using feedback from others. 

• Demonstrate professional graphic design techniques using industry standard software.

• Create graphic design that communicate to a target audience.
