Hi Viking families!
I’m so happy to have the opportunity to teach your child in 4th grade. This is my fifth year at Voyager, but my 29th year teaching. I grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia and moved to North Carolina when I was in high school. I graduated from Jordan High School and worked as an assistant teacher for 3 years before going to college and getting my teaching degree. I graduated from NCCU and worked for Durham Public Schools for the majority of my career, teaching 5th grade.
I am married and have 2 children and 2 grandsons. My daughter is a junior at NC State University. My son is a UPS driver and is married to a teacher, I might add, and they have 2 sons. Spending lots of time with my family is what I enjoy most. We love going to Kerr Lake and Carolina Beach. I enjoy being outdoors, exercising, and eating good food. I am a Carolina fan at heart but have a spot for my NC State girl!
I am excited about teaching and inspiring your child to read. This is going to be a great year working with you, your child and an amazing 4th grade team.
