I am so excited to be re-joining the Voyager Team!
This will be my 13th year in education.
I was born in Brazil and moved to Brooklyn, NY when I was 9 years old. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Brooklyn College, a Master's Degree in Special Education from The State University of New York at New Paltz and a Master's Degree in School Administration from North Carolina Central University.
After teaching 5th grade in New York, I moved to Durham in 2011 where I taught 3rd Grade at Voyager Academy for five years. I then spent four years at home raising my three kids (ages 11, 9 and 5) before joining Alamance Community School in 2020. During my four years there, I taught STEM, 4th grade and was the Assistant Principal for two years. After some soul-searching, I realized that I needed to be closer to my family and that my real passion is teaching and being in the classroom with students. I feel so lucky to have been given another opportunity to join the Voyager team once again.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the beach, reading and running.
