I am extremely excited to begin my eighth year teaching at Voyager Academy and having your child be a part of my class. Teaching 1st Grade is an absolute joy because at this age the children are just as excited about coming to school as I am.
I am originally from Goldsboro, North Carolina and moved to Raleigh to attend North Carolina State University (Go Pack!) I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. In addition, I have obtained a Master’s Degree of Reading Education from East Carolina University. After graduating from NC State I worked as a teaching assistant in Wake County for a year, and then accepted a teaching position at the Jordan Center Pre-School in downtown Raleigh. Working with that age group has taught me so much about teaching and life in general. I feel like that experience solidified why I love this age group.
Outside of teaching, my hobbies include reading, going to the beach, spending time with my niece Layla Mae (who just turned eight years old) and nephew Nathan Ray (who just turned six years old), and going to any type of NC State athletic event. I am a passionate person who loves life and lives it to the fullest. I am thrilled to have your child in my classroom this year and cannot wait to get to know them, as well as you, on a personal level.l
