The textbook definition is " an exaggeration by means of often ludicrous distortion of parts or characteristics; a representation especially in literature or art that has the qualities of caricature". It encourages the artist or creator of this caricature to highlight what they find important to their subject character. This can be very cute and funny but in the cases we're discussing it is not. Historical carcitures especially those having to do with African Americans give an insight into the stereotypes that are present and dominant in today's society. Often these stereotypes stem from the caricatures formed over time from less progressive times.
