Training for the NSG 2025 started July of 2024 for the J2s, who had been training vigorously since. Their spectacular results this year, forged through hardship and perseverance, are a testament to their tireless efforts. This year, especially, has been beset with challenges. Captain of the Wushu Girls team, Angela Koo Shi Xuan (24S38), credits the Wushu team’s success this year to both their members and supporters. She says, “This year's NSG was definitely a well deserved win for both teams. Everyone put in their best effort, so much so that we had to face some setbacks due to injuries and accidents. Nonetheless, we kept pushing- and every medal and point earned was worth it. I’m incredibly proud to say that everyone contributed to our win this NSG in their own ways, be it by enduring long training sessions, or cheering their hearts out for our competitors. VJ Wushu won't disappoint, and we'll be back next year.” Angela’s words reflect the true spirit of VJ Wushu, where every individual’s contribution, big or small, came together to secure their success.
Her successor, Sharleen Nur Ilyana Binte Jailani (25S51), shares her reflection on their journey thus far. “Despite all the blood, sweat and tears training for NSG 2025, it was definitely a season worth remembering. Our strong unity as VJ Wushu was definitely what helped us get past this season with two divisional trophies in our hands. Yes, we did face disappointments- but we walked off the carpet with lessons that will benefit us in the future. Now, we are even more determined to work harder for NSG 2026.” She highlights the valuable lessons learned throughout the season, which will shape their approach moving forward. With renewed determination, Sharleen expressed the team's unwavering commitment to working even harder for the upcoming NSG 2026.

Our Boys’ Captain for 2025, Leroy Ng Xin Kai (25S37) reflects, “This year was full of ups and downs with countless injuries and fatigue as we pushed through every single training and competition. I'm very glad and honoured to say that as a team we managed to persevere and perform to the best of our abilities -achieving champions for the Boys’ team as well as 2nd place for the Girls’ team. I'm really proud that we were able to achieve such great results even though there were many challenges along the way."
“To my team, thank you for always bringing your energy-not only doing your best in every training, but also having fun listening to Chinese songs and working together to push each other to their best potential. Jiayous for next year!” His words reflect how despite setbacks, the Wushu team persevered and continued to be resilient in order to clutch their wins at the very end.
Their late night training, injuries and setbacks have only made them stronger. His successor, Xavier Wong Hoe Lun (25S38) states, “Although our preparation was very tiring and strenuous, with many gruelling training sessions and injuries, it was worth it in the end with our results.” True to his word, the VJ Wushu Boys team had given their all and achieved a resounding victory, dominating in both their group events.

Lastly, Ms Sharon Lim, Teacher-In-charge of VJ Wushu shares her remarks on VJ Wushu’s NSG journey. “The 2025 NSG season was a testament of VJW’s uncanny ability to rise above the odds as one. Despite unforeseen circumstances and a series of unfortunate injuries that plagued the team, our unity - the one thing that remains unchanged - saw us through it all. Above medals and positions, our camaraderie is what truly deserves celebration.”
Despite being challenged by unexpected setbacks and a spate of injuries, the team’s unwavering unity remained their greatest asset. It wasn’t the medals or rankings that defined the season’s success, but the unbreakable camaraderie forged through shared struggle - a spirit that continues to embody the heart of VJWushu.
