After months of preparation, the school term finally ended with a bang on 20th Nov at Vivocity's Amphitheater. With 17 performances ranging from bands to dances and even a skit, Lasting Affair(LA) for the Victorians this year was truly an unforgettable experience.
Practice sessions had begun as soon as promotional exams had ended, with VJDance committing to a rigorous schedule of practice sessions 4 times a week while our student bands competed for the VLA time slots online, giving their fellow students in the canteen a taste of what was to come. Between rehearsing for PW and preparing for LA, their ability to juggle both studies and personal efforts is truly inspiring.
Students started streaming into the amphitheater at 5.15 pm after the Outdoor Affair at Sentosa, together with friends bonded through a year of both hardship and joy.
The night was kickstarted by our emcees Anisah Omar from 24S36 and Ashlyn Yeong from 24S33. Dressed energetically as Mario and Luigi respectively, they hyped the audience up for the first performances of the night, our student bands!
With the lively “Contraband” and “White Noise” turning up the vibe, Victorians rose screaming along with popular songs like ‘From the Start’ by Laufey and “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars, bringing the vibe up in the auditorium. Piano player Jyreh Ang from 24A11 stunned Victorians with his impressive playing. Further heightening the mood was “VJNovas”, bonded over a shared hobby for Kpop dances despite being in different classes and CCAs. Thanks to their hard work and efforts, the atmosphere reached its peak, with the best still to come.

One of the most memorable performances of the night was the band formed by members of the Student Council (SC) - Ayam Penyet Obama.
Its charismatic lead singer Muhammad Ishraaq from 24S35, dressed as Princess Elsa, started by introducing the lore behind their band name- Ayam Penyet Obama was a dish they had eaten together, so they decided to name their band after it.
Performing Let it Go (as befitting of their dress code), the song was adapted into a stunning electric rock version that fired up the crowd, making them get up and cheer with much enthusiasm and fervor.
LA resumed on a more mellow note by emcees Isabel Tan from 24S36 and Fella Citra from 24A12. Dressed in elegant dresses of yellow and pink, they gracefully transitioned the raving crowd into a softer segment of the concert, led by our singers both solo and in groups.
Stirring the hearts of all who listened, solo singers Shaurav Raj from 24S34 and Haasini Priya from 24S45 evoked nostalgia through their melodious voices and heartfelt renditions of Photograph and Perfect by Ed Sheeran, as well as Grenade by Bruno Mars and Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus. Victorians stood with their arms draped around each other, waving their flashlights and swaying to the music.

As the night progressed, the auditorium filled with a year’s worth of memories and the bittersweet realization that another school term had come to an end—with one final year to go. Adding to the atmosphere were group vocalists Voces3, featuring members from Choir, and the band The 7tns, who deepened the nostalgia with moving performances of Shallow by Lady Gaga and Yellow by Coldplay.

Victorians also showed unique sides to others through more niche performances. A group of TSD students, “VNL”, performed a skit that aimed to show the different sides of VJ students, bringing humour to the audience through satirical performances of different stereotypes of students.

Another student, Darsh Sarvaiya from 24S43, held a DJ segment lasting around 9 mins. His interest in DJ-ing started from a Sentosa party with friends, leading to him trying it out at home and making his own mixes. His own blend of popular pop music allowed students to vibe together across a variety of songs, hyping everyone up in a unique and sensational manner.
The long awaited VJDance entered the stage with much gusto, mixing refined techniques with booming energy to give Victorians a sight for sore eyes. With the stage shaking underneath their demanding steps, even passers-by at Vivocity were compelled to stop and take a few moments to enjoy the magnificent choreography.

Performances by bands F6 and Band Aids kept the energy high as Victorians jumped along to the songs’ groovy beats.
Finally, the last performances of the night were brought to us by VJ alumni performers and bands Isaac, RHockerfellas and VJFELLAS. Driving the energy up with trendy songs like Espresso, APT and Locked Out of Heaven, VA ended with a bang as students streamed down the stands to join in right in front of the front stage.

The momentous night was reluctantly brought to an end by our emcees in their closing statement, thanking the teachers-in-charge, committee members, and of course, the performers who put in their time and effort to bring to us a night filled with laughter and reflection on the time we've spent together, with friends who'll last forever. In our trademark sign of camaraderie, Victorians put their arms around each other for the last time that year, singing the Victorian anthem as one community, bonded by a year's worth of memories.
