We learned about the number set. This was the first time I learned number set. The first time I feel a little confuse with it, but after I review the slides, and practiced the worksheet the teacher gave us, I improved a lot on my number set. The other lesson we had is about studying factor, fraction and (equivalent)ratio. Because now I am in senior high school, so the math is harder than before. I need to spend more and more time on the vocabularies and how to understand the question.
We've also did a special worksheet call SEL. I think it's a kind of discussion about math. We wrote SEL every class, sometimes was to share feelings about math, sometimes was to write words of encouragement. I think this is a really good activity. Actually, I haven't expected that we are going to have SEL in math class. In my memories, math class is always boring and just some lessons to do, but SEL really shift my paradigm. SEL don't talk about math that much, more than that, I can mirroring my feelings in SEL.
In the first lesson of this week, we were also focusing on working ratios. Learning ratios can help us count the length and height of our project or more than only school-learning process. I would use these skills to improve my math vocabularies. The other classes we were learning about exponent, and I think this is the hardest part what I learned this semester, but I think it is still not really hard to overcome it.
We had test in the first class of week 3. I think the test is easy, but I still need to think a little bit. I enjoy to have test.
We did an eco-house budgeting project in Wednesday. I think the limited time is not enough for me, but I still finished it(even though I didn't finish it on time). I first faced a problem : I don't know how to build an eco-house, and I don't know what kind of design is suitable for it. So I searched for materials to fit my need in building. I choose to build my eco-house in Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Okayama is famous with its fruits, soI think it is also good for plants to grow. This project is connected with our Science class's project --- eco-house. But I think it is a little bit different, Science's eco-house is more likely to discuss about the environment and ecosystem that is suitable for building eco-house. Like why I choose to build eco-house in Okayama is because I want to fit the need of eco-house. Now, I already finished the blueprint, budget counting, and plan for challenges I might face. There is a friend who gave me an advice about I can try to search for the most suitable materials for building eco-house. Like if I build an eco-house in wetlands, than what kind of materials I should choose for my structure? So I reflect about it and choose a material that can fit my need(but it is expensive).
This week we learned about mean, medium, mode, and range. I've learned this before, so I think it is not that difficult to me. But still, there are still challenges for me to solve. Mean is a average value of a data set, medium is a middle number in a data set, mode is the data that represent most frequently. These new math terms are challenges for me to remember.
These weeks, I think my speed in doing work is a little bit slow, so I will try to upper my speed and keep on doing the work and improve. These weeks, I wrote a lot of SELs, so I can better reflect myself and know where can I improve. If my friends saw my work, they might feel cool because I choose a place that is really suitable but unpopular. I would change how I do my future project because I want to increase my speed. The specific method I'm going to use is to write a proposal or a schedule before doing the work, and then follow the proposal's steps and give myself a limited time to do the work. I believe in this way I can finish my work faster than before.
Daily Learning
In this week we learned about Pythagorean Theory, triangles and angle properties. Pythagorean Theory is easier than I expected. We just had to remember the formula: a² + b² = c² and find the leg and hypotenuse. Triangle and angle property is not easy, so I reviewed some of the lesson. Not only triangles and angle properties, we need to learn to distinguish between different kinds of angles, such as central angles, and also understand important concepts like the distance from the center to the chord.
Eco-House Project
We wrote a blueprint and put the informtion like the budget and the limit we might face during the building project. This project connect to our Science project since we will work on it (building an eco-house). Our purpose is to increase biodiversity.
Daily Learning
We learned about the geometry measurment which include angle properties like diameter, radius, and secant. Some of them I think is quite confusing like tangent. I always thought that tangent is a term for trigonometric funtion.
Angle properties and Pythagorean Theorem test
This test is quite easy if you really review it so i got a good grade on it and make sure everything is nice. I think this connect to my eco-house project since I decied to add a pond in my garden, I think i would choose to add some sustainable energy like hydrogen which connect to our science class's eco-house project again. We had discussion about different type of sustainable energy use, I would like to choose hydrogen and solar panels as my eco-house's energy.
Daily Learning
We learned about the data in calculating eco-house like scaltter plot, box plot, and pie chart. The hard part is to calculate it and drew it down because you can not make surewhether it is right or wrong. This connect to our PBL because we discussed that we want to make a google form and let others filled it and make the datas into a graph. We wish that we can know the feedback from our classmates through these plots.
Eco-House
We also did a calculation about eco-house'd budget. I really enjoy calculating it but I jut score a low grade sincce the graoh is wrong. But i think it is a little bit difficult to present the graph through excel sheet. I like the working we did with other group.
Eco-house
We did another data work on it and finished it before time. I think I did it treat becuse I had a partner to tell me where is not correct. We had to filled the data and let excel ran out a graph for us. This is really convenient. I will try to put some hand-made grapg or plot inside my eco-house project.
I really enjoy this activity because we can work in pair andd discuss the answer. We figured out the question by tramwork since I didn't understood the rules and my teammate Emma told me what to do about it and I soon found out the answer. What we learned from that is to first find the area of a shape, then calculate its volume.
I've learned a lot in the past four weeks from the circle properties to the eco-house project. I was once confused about the circle properties and why it's so confusing in some rules. So I reviewed many slides and did some research by my own, so I learned a new reiew skill through my reviewing about the circle properties. The another thing i did unwell is the variable data calculation on excel sheet. I was really confused about the purpose of using it first, but after you overcome the problem of typing and some terms used in it, you won't feel annoyed but convenient, so i want to add the graph i made by excel into my eco-house's blueprint. Now I changed how I did review and calculation by calculating it with hands, that can improve really quick. This profolio connect to my previous work about eco-house data calculation since that work was done really bad so i want to reflect it on my GSP. Next time I would ask more people about how the right graph is going to look like and change it before submit it also understand why it looks different. Emma said my eco-house project wad done nicely and the floor plan is clear and easy ro understand. I agree with her but some places are here for me to reflect like the label part I made some mistakes and I would like to label it correctly next time.
eco-house
We had a presentation about our final eco-house modal. We had to
