We discussed about our project words such as "community", "heritage", and"identity". We had talked about our own culture, other nations' cultures and kids born as a "third culture kid", what will they feel about themselves. We also learnt about stereotype, prejudice, and discrimination. "Digital Footprint" is also I topic we had discussed about. We learnt that digital does not mean private. Actually, it is completely different. Our every searched website will be record after we visit it. This is also called "digital footprint".
Davinci Resolve is a software that can cut videos and audios. This software is famous in movie makers. When they cut movies, they will use this software. We first learnt how to skill building like: How to mix the sound effects together? How to add background music? How to balance the volume? We use Davinci Resolve to mix sound effect in our audio. We also use Davinci Resolve to mix different parts of stories to make a completely new fairy tale and our final project -- interview our oldest relative. We need to balance the volume between background music, sound effects, and our interviewer. It is either important to add subtitles, videos and audios into our working process in Davinci Resolve.
We did "Three Robbers" project. We first learnt skill building. First, we downloaded sound effects. Second, we selected sound effects we need or we think it is suitable for our "Three robbers" audio. Not only just selected them together, we also needed to mix and polish it. So the third step was to added all sound effects into the process and put it to the suitable place. The forth step, balance the volume. We needed to balance all sound bits inside our process and make sure it is perfect. Our purpose is to make this video(audio add sound effects) as high-quality as possible.
We first chose our favorite story book, and pick chapters we want to mix. Next, we put our stories into the Davinci Resolve. Then, we cut the stories and try to put them in lines. This is the hardest part in our process(I think). The same as "Three Robbers", we needed to balance the volume and make sure the voice of all narrators' sounds are balanced. The most important thing is the story need to be logical, or we can say, it need to make sense.
For my project, I interviewed my oldest living relative — my great aunt. We talked about her childhood and her experiences during Japanese Rule and the rise of the Nationalist government in Taiwan. She told me many stories about her hometown, the part-time job she had, and her education. She shared how she had to work from a young age, helping on the family farm, and living through wartime bombings. After the war, she could no longer study because she didn’t understand Chinese. It was difficult for her to survive, but she was still grateful for what she had. This interview gave me the opportunity to learn about what happened to my family during a difficult time in history. Now I cherish what I have even more and think positively everyday.
