It is a new semester! This semester, we are starting to focus on the Wh questions. The information is mostly about how to make "wh questions," so for example: Where are you on May 7th? And then we need to reply with the clue under the rubric. Another thing is that we made a survey to ask people some questions about our topic "tea". Why do we pick tea? It's because drinking tea is a very normal thing in Taiwan, and we are asking questions like: how often do you drink tea, or which brand is your favorite? And all after that, we need to make a presentation with the result and tell the classes about: since there is 90% of people say their favorite tea type is black tea, so we can tell black tea is the most popular tea type in Taiwan or in Taipei.
Here are some images of our presentation :
Based on this, we discussed why we will choose this topic for the survey, what the results will be, and what we will get after the survey. My favorite part is what we will get after the survey, because this is a very psychological thing. Because when you are doing this survey, you will think you are representing your favorite tea or brand, so about 90% of the information is true; it's the same logic as people talking about who is the best sportsman.
And there is another small project, which is about what is before the 30 bucket list, that means we need to talk about what your goals are that you want to do before 30. There will be included Personal Development, Travel and Adventure, Career and Education, and Creative and Fun. I will talk about my Personal Development first. My personal development will be to become rich and not be in trouble. Because I would like to make my life easier. My Travel and Adventure goal is to go to Istanbul and LA, because these 2 places are all in my future traveling plan, and they are the most likely for me to go to first, just to complete my goal as fast as I can. My Career and Education goal is to get into one of the top 100-ranked universities in the world and graduate. After I graduate, I would like to become a professional pool player, and I would also like to open a pool equipment shop, just because I like pool so much. Because I am a pool player that trys very hard to have a trophy, so after opening this shop, I would like to find more player that plays well but don't have a great opportunity. I will become one of their sponsors just to support these players in achieving their dream. My creativity and fun are to keep some of my better hobbies, like badminton, basketball, and video games, and I might become a content creator as a hobby just for sharing my life.
After all this, we started to learn something that relates to our future life, simulating a job application. So here is the beginning, on a day in class, our teacher started to talk about his job application experience, and at the same time, that day we were going to do a one-minute speech, the speech would be about a thing that you did for a long time, for example, I have been playing badminton for 8 years already. These are types of things for our speech, and we need to use Since and for in the speech. So this is like a grammar practice and speaking practice.
After this speech, the teacher gave us a paper, and we needed to make a resume by ourselves. Here is my resume:
This is my resume, as you can see, we can put our information randomly, and I make myself an artist who graduated from Austria Music University of Music in Austria. After practicing making a resume, we got a job happily debating, so there will be 5 judges, and they will vote on who should get the job, but the job we are applying for is not our own job, so my opponent is not applying as an artist, and I am not appilying their current job. So on that day, the job I am applying for is a fashion designer position, and my opponent is applying for a construction worker position. Here are the steps: we will be interviewing each other, and the judges will record the information, then we will start to ask questions that we have prepared. Of course, we are not going to ask some weird questions like " How old is your kid? are you married? Or something else, the questions must be job-related. And the final result is I won the debate because my opponent asked some questions, like do you have a boyfriend? theis types of word questions and the way I answer are also the correct ways that our teacher taught us. By the way, I won every 5 judges' votes. For this work, I learned what might happen when I am in a job interview, and how I should answer the question most politely. I am very appreciative of my English teacher, because he let us know there could be weird interviewees and interviewers, and there could be weird resumes, and the thing he is teaching is how to make the best decision from his experience, so we know how to get a job more easily.
After this, we practiced travel planning as the semester's final project. The thing we need to do for this project is basically to set up a 3-day travel plan for a city, and the city my teammate and I picked is London. The reason we chose this city is that London is far away from Taiwan, and it is a very big city in the world, so we wonder what you can see and what you can do in London
