The main goal of math for this semester is called "ECO House." The main goal of the ECO House project is to create a house that incorporates mathematics and science. I mean, why are we building a home with only math? The only good thing about this project is that we can do research as long as we want, but the worst thing is that we need to calculate for a long time, then find the house material. I mean, I never built a house before, why will my teacher expect us to really find great material for a house? Let's get back on track, the first four weeks of the semester
This is the first week of October, and our teacher is teaching us the Pythagorean Theorem. I don't know why the teacher keeps letting us learn the things we have learned for a long time. What is the matter? This thing has been in my junior high school life for almost 3 years already, and the teacher never thinks about teaching something that is harder
This is a second power practice we have done at the beginning of the semester. We have learned how second power works and how to apply it to our lives. And it is also very easy to learn how to use it. For example, in this image here, there is a question asking (-12)20 divided by (12) 19. The answer to this question will be (-12) because 20 - 19 equals 1, but we won't write 1 next to (-12) because it is useless. This is how we appily it.
For this subject, I expected that I could improve my math in calculation, graph types of stuff, and I hope I can learn anything else that is high-level Mathematics, like algebra, or any weird formula that you need to spend a lot of time to learn on and need to calculate with step with it, that is the "Math" that I expected and also what I think we need to learn other wise we I think we will be very behind of other people's education compare to other school in Taiwan
This is a project we have done with Google Sheets to show an association between Energy used and insulation. We have made 2 projects on this type of work, and everyone in our class is starting to use Google Sheets better. Like, how can we make a form or a plot easier for just using a Google Sheets when we just put the numbers and units in there.
This is the material list for my eco house project. As you can see, there are Wood planks, Nails, paint, glue, fabric, and a lot of other types of units that are useful to build a house. The bottom part of the sheets is the reflections about the project, and after all these types of Google Sheets practice, we will start to use paper or paperboard to build a small sample of the house we expect or what we have planned.
Later on, I will show you my first time ever using Google Sheets practice
<---------------- The statistics we are using in the practice later
This is the practice about to make a data plot, and it is shown with a pie chart, where the different parts of colors show the different amounts of Solar Panels ($ per panel) that have been used in the different categories. The good thing about using this type of data chart is that you don't need to go get a calculator to just count a single data, and you can easily find the unit you want here.
This is a box plot, because there are no box plots form in the Google Sheet, so we need to draw one in the Google Sheet with our hand. Up here, we can show the 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, the minimum, and the maximum. For me, this is kind of an easy way to show a data sheet.
This is a double bar graph that shows the Solar Panels ($ per panel) (the blue one) and the Windows ($ per unit) ( red ). The good part of this double bar graph is that it is very easy for people to make a comparison and contrast between about 2 different units.
